Serenading Stars: Gauntlet of the Galaxies

Inspired by the world of Alien Stage, the human race has long ago been subjugated and domesticated by aliens, kept alive only for their voice. Characters will all be playing human pets that have been entered in a singing competition, where audience votes literally decide who dies and lives each round until only one person remains.

Serenading Stars: Gauntlet of the Galaxies is an experimental performance-focused theatrical larp for 6-8 players and a single game runner. Gameplay is split between performance and interview sections. During performance sections, players perform (lip-sync, sing, dance, read poetry, or do something else to a song of their choosing) and compete for audience votes, represented by dice rolls. Players have abilities to help or harm their or an opponent's chances of winning, and there are some environment effects too as game progresses. Interview sections give players a chance to speak (somewhat) freely to each other, as well as scheme.

Character death of player characters abounds in game play - there will be the chance for plenty of dramatic last moments, and just because a character is dead doesn't mean the player has nothing to do. Expect themes concerning lack of control and loss of personhood, the predatory nature of the entertainment industry, and bad/unhealthy reactions in the face of trauma throughout game material. The resilience of the human spirit and what’s the best move in the face of oppression will inevitably be discussed during game as well.

Guide to Game and Materials: A guide to all the included materials, as well as how to run the game from early prep to game wrap and debrief.

Bluesheets: Separate player-facing rules, setting, and public persona sheets.

Character Generation: Rather than having set character sheets, this game's character sheets are generated (by hand) from a series of tables to determine their public persona, secret, relationships, and such, which in turn affect what starting abilities each character has. Use random rolls as well as player responses from the included casting form to make each game experience unique!

Please note that this game is in early play-testing. It does not have the same level of polish as other games I've made available, hence the difference in pricing. Until it's been run more times and been developed to completion, it will remain free to download.
